Grilled Cheese!

Jacob's first actual meal that was not pureed was Grilled Cheeese and he loved it. I made grilled cheese for Nate and I and gave Jacob some. I am glad he is a fan.

BIG/IMPORTANT NEWS

A lot has happened in the past few weeks. We GUESS Nate didnt get the job in Irving. He applied for a job in Irving, TX and even got the second interview. They told Nate they would let him know the week of Jan. 4th if he got the job and they never called. It has been a month now and we still dont know. Nate has called and emailed so many times but no one will contact us to let us know what is going on. VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL if you ask me. So Nate and I decided to stick around Clarksville for a while longer and buy a house. We were very excited for our decision. I took Thursday off and we went with our realtor to look at houses and we found the PERFECT house and it was the perfect price. We were so excited and we were going to put an offer on it today. We really wanted a house by April 10 so we could have lots of people over for Jacob's birthday party.
That afternoon, Nate went to work early because they had a mandatory meeting. He called me after the meeting letting me know that he will be laid off March 9th. I immediately started to bawl. I hated crying so hard infront of Jacob but I couldnt help it. I was more upset that we werent going to buy a house anymore. He told me that the copy editing desk in Clarksville is moving to Murfreesboro, Tn which is 30 minutes south of Nashville and 1 1/2 hours south of Clarksville. He also told me that the copy editing desk in Jackson, Tn is also moving to Murfreesboro. Which means that there are 12 positions at Murfreesboro and 17 people who might apply. Of course Nate is going to apply for the job and he has an excellent chance of getting it. If so, then we will move to Nashville or Smyrna (which is a suburb of Nashville) and we will buy a house there. I hate leaving Clarksville but this is what we will have to do. If he does get the job then I will probably finish off the year teaching and apply for a teaching job in Nashville for the fall.
If Nate doesnt get this job in Murfreesboro then I have no idea what we will do. We will figure out something though. So please please please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we move onto the next part of our life. I will keep you updated when we know something about this new job.

Snow 2010

It snows 6 inches in Clarksville and Jacob had a wonderful time watching the snow fall and playing in the snow. We made snow angels and played with Dolly. It was very cold so after a while we went inside and had a warm bottle of formula to warm him up.

Pucker up! and a few other videos

Jacob has learned to give kisses. He doesn't pucker his lips, but goes at you with an open mouth. It's like smooching with a wide-mouth bass.

Jacob takes his first few unassisted steps! He's gonna be walking very soon... He just started crawling :-(

We're still cleaning out our video camera, so from time to time we'll post something from Jacob's younger days. Here's one from when he was a day shy of four months.

Here's a funny bonus video for our loyal viewers who still care about the forgotten child.

9 month pics

Fun in the snow

Here's a video from last week when Jacob experienced his first snowfall. School was canceled so Erin got to enjoy it with us.

It was really cute seeing him all bundled up from head to toe. He looked like the younger brother from A Christmas Story whose arms were stiff from all the layers of clothing.

No strings attached

That is no illusion. What you're seeing is real.

Jacob is standing on his own!

No walls. No gripping furniture. No holding onto mom and dad or the dog.

That is pure strength in those little thunderous, thoroughbred thighs to help him momentarily defy gravity.

I am so incredibly proud of the little man! Erin captured this photo Tuesday night while I was at work. I wish I could've been home to see it, but I didn't hesitate to show everyone in the office :-)

9 months already

Jacob is 9 months. I cant believe my baby boy will be 1 yr old in 3 months. Where has time gone? He went in for his 9 month checkup appointment. He have a skinny baby on our hands. He weighs 16 lbs and 15 ounces. He gained 2 pounds in 3 months. BUT he grew almost 3 inches. He is 27 1/2 inches tall. I think he has David's gene where he can eat all he wants and never gain weight. Ugh.. how come I dont have that gene. Jacob is eating table foods. We give him some of whatever Nate and I are eating. He is standing by himself for a few seconds at a time. He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything. He also walks from furniture to furniture. It will be a few more weeks before he starts walking. His top two teeth are coming in and I will have to start brushing his teeth now. We are trying to teach Jacob to drink out of a cup but he hasn't caught on just yet. According to the Dr. he is right where he should be. Good news all around. Just a little update on the little man.
