6 month appointment was today

Nate and I took Jacob to his 6th month appointment today and saw Dr. Roads. He is a wonderful pediatrician and would not change Dr's for the world. We got to the room and the nurse tooks his stats. which are low. Jacob is 15 lbs 25.5 inches long and his head is 41 inches around. He is a petite boy. Jacob is in the 8th percentile for his weight, 14th percentile for his length and 1 percentile for his head. He obviously has my brothers genes where he can eat and eat and eat and never gain weight except he has nate's genes on the length part. Dr. Roads asked us a bunch of questions whether or not he is doing different things a 6 month old shoudld be doing and we are glad to say that he is right where he should be developmentally. I am so happy to hear this. I was scared that Jacob would be a little delayed because of all the medication given to him when he was in the NICU after his birth. Jacob is one smart cookie. After Dr. Roads left the nurse came in to give Jacob his 3 shots he gets every 2 months and we added a shot today. He got his flu shot. So Jacob was poked 4 times and not only did he SCREAM, I cried too. I hate seeing my baby go through any kind of pain. For the rest of the day he was grumpy and crabby. I gave him baby motrin to help ease his pain. Dr. Roads gave us the "ok" to start him on stage 2 foods, start him on meat, start him on finger foods (mashed potatoes, cut up veggies and fruits, cherrios, graham crackers, anything we are eating but cut up in really small pieces), and start him on a sippy cup. Jacob and I went to the store today to do some shopping. He has no idea what to do with the finger foods or the sippy cup but I know he will get the hang of it. All in all, my baby is growing up way to fast and time really needs to slow down. Jacob will go back for his 9 month appt. in Jan., but thank goodness no more shots till he is 1 year old!
